Objectives
1. To improve results in fighting application of previously studied attack methods of the Yin Style Bagua Lion System
2. To gain understanding of the force transforming and removing methods of bagua through training of the Phoenix System attack methods
3. Continued development and refinement of bagua saber technique and introduction to the bagua straight sword
Syllabus
Standing Strengthening Posture Practise
Postures from the Lion, Phoenix & Monkey systems
- Achieving correct alignment for increased strength and improved circulation
- Understanding the mental aspects of the practice
Foundational Strike Practise
Single strikes from the Lion, Phoenix & Monkey systems
- In the static and square stepping methods
- How to wind up effectively
- Use whole body to generate power
- Coordination of stepping and body movement to complete the issuing of force
Strike Combinations Practise
Combinations of strikes from the Lion & Phoenix systems
- How to effectively change forces from one strike to the next
- In the square and 3-step methods
- Taking stepping patterns from forms, changing stepping, and examining the results of different kinds of stepping
Forms Practise
Forms from the Lion, Phoenix & Monkey systems
- How to gain an advantageous position on the opponent
- How to pair the proper stepping method with the technique
- Adding in body movement to help give a better result in the use of the technique
- Understanding how to make techniques more well-knit and the stepping more agile
Applications Practise
Applications of foundational strikes, strike combinations & forms of Lion & Phoenix systems
- Effect of stepping on usage through matching and coordinating appropriate changes in footwork, coordination of speed, weight and cadence of stepping
Circle Walking Practise
Methods of the Lion & Phoenix systems
- Achieving the correct posture and alignment
- How to be more rooted and maintain whole body connection throughout the practise
Bagua Large Weapons Practise
Large Saber
- Training individual movements and basic exercises to increase strength and coordination
- Correct some of the more common problems
- Nine Dragon Saber form focussing on the use of body movement, accuracy of saber technique, rhythm of movement and applications
Straight Sword
- Foundational practices
- Develop a working knowledge of the bagua sword and its basic usage
*Additional training for suitably qualified students
Students considered as being 'qualified' will be invited to attend the additional training sessions at instructor's discretion:

Fee
Main Sessions £575 for 16 days
The fee covers tuition of the main daytime classes and are subject to review. Travel, accommodation and meals are the participants' responsibility. Other sessions may be separately priced.
Prerequisite The event is designed for existing practitioners and so prior training experience in the Lion system of Yin Style Baguazhang is required. Those unable to attend classes due to geographical or other constraints should contact Ket Patel to discuss their suitability.
